What is SafeAir

SafeAir is simply air that is enriched with additional oxygen. A SafeAir mixture has an oxygen concentration between 22% and 50%. SafeAir is cleaner than ordinary compressed air because it contains less condensed hydrocarbons. SafeAir is NOT a "mixed gas", used only by commercial and professional divers and can be used by any properly trained recreational diver.

Why would I want to use SafeAir ?
The major advantages of diving with SafeAir instead of air are increased safety and protection from decompression sickness. Specifically:

No decompression time limits (NDL) are significantly extended which adds an extra safety margin and/or increases allowable bottom times.

Decompression time is reduced if NDL's are exceeded.

There is a reduction of nitrogen's narcotic effect and post-dive fatigue levels.

After a dive, residual nitrogen in the body is reduced which increases the available bottom time on repetitive dives, decreases surface intervals, or both. This also reduces the risk of flying after diving.Remember, with SafeAir you're breathing less nitrogen.

Isn't SafeAir just for deep diving?
No. Every recreational diver, even the occasional diver can benefit from SafeAir. Although it's maximum operating depth is 150 feet (46 MSW), the ideal diving depths for SafeAir are between 40 and 130 feet (13 and 40 MSW). SafeAir offers more advantages to the shallower diver but any recreational diver will benefit from the reduced nitrogen levels in SafeAir.

What special diving equipment do I need to use SafeAir?
No special equipment is required. Your own equipment may be properly cleaned and serviced for SafeAir, according to manufacturer's guidelines, by a certified ANDI Service Technician.

Can I still use my dive computer?
Yes, the ANDI training program explains how to use your air computer to maximize both bottom times and safety. There is no better way to achieve added safety and ease of dive planning than to use an '"air" dive computer and breathe SafeAir.

 How do I get SafeAir?
ANDI facilities have SafeAir cylinders for rent. Your own cylinder may be filled for about $10 provided it has been inspected and cleaned by an ANDI Service Technician, is color-coded / labeled for SafeAir, and you have your ANDI certification.

 Where can I get SafeAir?
There are ANDI SafeAir refill stations throughout the United States, North America, the United Kingdom, Greece , rest of Europe, the Middle East, Australia, the Caribbean, South America, and Africa. There is probably an ANDI facility near your next diving destination. Premier dive destinations such as Greek Islands , Grand Cayman, Eilat, Hurgahda, and Sharm El Sheikh, feature ANDI facilities.

Can a Safe air cylinder be used with Air again?
SafeAir does not affect the inside of the cylinder in any way. However, a cylinder color- coded for SafeAir means that the gas inside is oxygen enriched air. To refill a SafeAir cylinder with air, the cylinder color-coding / labeling must be removed.

 Can anyone blend gas mixtures?
Mixtures other than air must be produced by an ANDI Certified Gas Blender. Fills should only be obtained from an ANDI certified SafeAir refill station.
